On November 15, 1966, two young married couples from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, entered the abandoned WWII TNT area late at night. There they observed a creature seven feet tall with broad wings and glowing red eyes embedded in its chest.
The TNT Area Phenomena
Over the next thirteen months, over 100 citizens reported direct sightings of the winged anomaly. Witnesses described silent flight speeds exceeding 100 mph, electronic interference with vehicle radios, and mysterious high-pitched screeching sounds preceding encounters.
The Silver Bridge Collapse (Dec 15, 1967)
The sightings culminated in tragedy when the Silver Bridge connecting Point Pleasant to Ohio collapsed during rush hour traffic, claiming 46 lives. Following the disaster, sightings of the Mothman in Mason County ceased almost entirely, fueling theory that the entity was an omen or harbinger of impending catastrophe.
